A recurring bill
Name, amount, currency and next renewal date, created once.
Recurring bills you create, eligible Apple Pay purchases through a Wallet Shortcut, payments from supported notifications and receipt scans — recorded without Plaid and without a bank password.
The promise is narrower than automatic discovery. That is also why nothing else needs your credentials.
Name, amount, currency and next renewal date, created once.
Passed through a Shortcut you install and a personal Wallet Transaction automation you configure.
A payment identified from an app you choose, such as your bank app or Messages, or a receipt you scan.
Each subscription shows its next date and amount, with a monthly and yearly running total beside it, so $6.99 reads as roughly $84 a year instead of a rounding error.
A service billing in EUR keeps EUR on the record while your base-currency view converts it approximately, using refreshed exchange-rate data. Treat the converted total as an estimate. The multi-currency budget app page has the model.

A linked-account tracker reads your history through a provider such as Plaid and flags recurring charges you forgot. Monetor takes the opposite position: you keep the credentials and you accept the gaps.
| Question | Linked-account tracker | Monetor |
|---|---|---|
| Finds subscriptions you forgot? | Can, by scanning account history | No. You add or capture each one |
| Needs bank credentials? | Yes, authorized through a provider | No |
| Imports past charges? | Usually, where the link works | No backfill |
| Depends on a connection staying healthy? | Yes | There is no connection to lose |
Cash, physical-card purchases, Apple Pay taps and subscriptions sit in the same month, with the same categories and totals. The cash and card expense tracker covers the other inputs; the Apple Pay expense tracker explains which taps arrive on their own.
No. Nothing is discovered from a source the app is not connected to. It records subscriptions you create as recurring bills, eligible Apple Pay purchases that arrive through a Shortcut, payments identified from notifications of apps you choose, and entries you scan or type.
No. There is no bank sign-in, no Plaid and no aggregator handoff. You install a Shortcut and configure a personal automation you control.
Yes. Each subscription keeps the currency it bills in, while your base currency gives an approximate combined total from refreshed exchange-rate data.
The ledger is not US-specific, because there is no bank integration at all. Apple Pay card and issuer support varies by country; manual entry and receipt scans behave the same anywhere.
No. Monetor does not cancel anything or contact providers on your behalf. It records the renewal date and amount so the decision arrives before the charge.
